Hunt frogs and painted turtles. Drift across the no-wake lake on rafts. Nap in the hammock. Watch Andy Griffith reruns. Play Mancala on the picnic table. Sip vodka and tonic with lime. Eat pancakes with pure maple syrup. Make fondue. Fill the thermos with coffee and Bailey's and check out outside. Develop a campfire by the lake. Shoot fireworks off over the lake. Golf at kid-friendly Timber Wolf. Hike the State Forest and disrupt the grouse. Bike to Twin Lake for ice cream. Drive northwest 30 minutes to Charlevoix and swim Lake Michigan. Hunt the Petoskey Stone. Store downtown. Tour the Boulder Manor, a home make from stone. Hike the Charles Ransom Preserve to experience the North Woods and to view Lake Michigan from up high. Buy cherry items at the Cherry Republic. Dining at Terry's Place for a whitefish sandwich and wild mushroom soup. Ferryboat to Beaver Island. Drive west 45 minutes to Traverse City and climb Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. This area has even more to do than I care to provide-- a week's holiday.
