It was originally called CarMil Cottage because my grandfather built it for Aunt Carrie and Uncle MiltonMy father added a second story in 1959 and I remodeled the bathroom and sun porch in 2011. The feeling is pure cottage -- simple beauty and easy indoor-outdoor living.The cottage is situated on a level lot and has private lake access. (We also own the lake front cottage.)Once on the beach you will marvel at the magical view of Lake Canandaigua and 100 feet of lake frontage. The gradual slope of the beach makes swimming and water play ideal for children and adults alike. The setting is magnificent with a large level grass area shaded by trees and a permanent dock from which you can swim, fish or simply watch the sun go down.The CarMil Cottage's main room, kitchen, bath, and sun porch are recently remodeled. The cream and white walls are offset by century old wooded floors. There is a natural stone fireplace (with a wood burning stove insert) in the living room.The heart of any vacation house is the kitchen. The kitchen has a four burner stove, full refrigerator, all cooking equipment and ample dishes and plates. Dining is in the enclosed sun porch next to the kitchen.The main room perfect place for a romantic dinner for two or for the entire family to gather for conversations or the traditional card and board games.The home has been remodeled to offer modern comforts without sacrificing the natural cottage charm and includes: a bright, kitchen, enclosed sun porch, lake views from the front porch and living room, and a 60 second walk to a private100 ft. beach (shared with our front cottage).The master bedroom and second bedroom are on the main floor. The third bedroom is found by following the "secret" hallway and ascending the stairs. The third bedroom is all knotty pine and feels a bit like sleeping in a comfortable tree house. The bath was fully remodeled in 2011 and features a wonderful tub and double-headed shower.Canandaigua Lake is a magical place all year round. You'll want to return annually to bathe in these clear waters, watch the dramatic sunsets, and slow down to "lake time".Of course, if you love great music - just down the road is the new CMAC performing arts center offering world class concerts all summer.
