Relax, Hike, Ski, Write, Read, Retreat, UnplugDeep in the woods of Finland, MNThis cabin sits less than a quarter mile across the Baptism River, Accessible by foot across frozen river- or - canoe (we supply) - or off Superior Hiking Trail, 1 mile hike from Finland Community Center. When you land on the opposite of the river, it is a 200' path to the cabin. Hike the Superior Hiking Trail straight from the cabin (see SHT Sectional Map: "Tettegouche State Park to Oberg Mountain"). A rustic hand hewn one room cabin with a wood burning oven for heat and kerosene lanterns, LED battery light for light. Kitchen corner has a 2 burner propane stove leading and a insulated cooler for refrigeration. In the "heating period" we will certainly have a generous stack of firewood waiting for you. In the warmer months, this will certainly not hold true, however you are complimentary to scavenge for dead and down wood to ride in the indoor wood stove (if need be) and for campfires in the designated fire ring. All kitchen utensils supplied. Bedding offered. We ask that you bring your very own individual towels (kitchen towels offered). There is no running water. There is an outhouse. In the winter, we will have 5 gallon jugs of drinkable water waiting for you. In the warmer months, water for cleaning or bathing can be carried from river. Fill up on scrumptious -to- drink well water from road side of river. Cabin is also connected to a personal 3 mile treking trail. Surface is hilly with rock face and views normal in the Sawtooth Mountains that edge Lake Superior. 1.5 hours from Duluth, 3.5-4 hour drive from Minneapolis. Crosby-Manitou and Tettegouche State Parks within 5 miles. Well-behaved and went to- to pet dogs are welcome. Maximum 2 individuals. $65/night-two night minimum.
