Despite town location, the home is on 4 acres - two open with slope and two stretching into the base of Belleayre Mountain. The house is surrounded on 3 sides by Catskill park acreage, with only a small seasonal cabin in sight. At the edge of the open acreage there are towering pines and various hard wood trees which envelope the property, quite dramatic in any season, and hiking trails adjacent to the property. The house is at the end of a little road that trails off to nowhere so the location is quiet, except for the stream - which wraps around the property across the small road before heading down the mountain. The house is four blocks from town where there are two restaurants, an old charming library and a community center/little farmers market on Saturdays during summer. ("Town" is a 5 block walk down our road...) Also in town is the Belleayre Lake at Pine Hill with facilities, a snack bar and life guard etc - open Memorial Day to Labor Day. Belleayre Mountain summer events and concerts is a 5 minute drive. For shopping, antiquing and cultural activities, Woodstock NY is 20 miles away, and there are multiples choice outings in both Margaretville and Phoenicia - each 10 miles due east and west from the house, respectively. The house is old (1888), though mostly restored to simple rustic farmhouse feel, right down to the WBS (propane) and claw-foot tub. There are some antiques but nothing fussy; and the place is quiet, cozy and comfortable, with W, DW.
