The mountains are calling you to The Little Rock House in the Woods just off Big Hungry road, following the North rim of the Green River Gorge. You?ll find yourself turning onto Landwood Lane, a winding bumpy lane following our own Sweet Creek. You?ll see the house on a hill, nestled in a lush little mountain holler where myself and my partner Kelly live part of the year and her daughter Anna and our beloved Jonas live year round. Waiting for your arrival is our simple, quaint home in the mountains. You will be surrounded by thousands of acres of Wildlife Management Land with hiking and bike trails and river rapids at your door steps. Wind your way past the play box studio and up the drive where there is room to park your backpack, bike, car, van or even a small RV. There you will discover our love for gardens. There are flowers and edibles scattered about, not to mention towering hardwood forest trees. Get out of your head and into your heart when you find a smiling face welcoming you to come on in. You will find a spacious bedroom with queen size bed, drawers for storing your things and plenty of closet space to settle into. Your bedroom is a private, soft, cozy space where in the silence of night you will be lullabied to sleep by the Sweet Creek singing outside your bedroom window. From your bedroom you?ll find a private entrance to a shared bath offering hot comforting showers or refreshing hot soaks in the tub. There is also a shared kitchen for your use. We will provide the basics for a light breakfast for your pleasure (i.e. coffee or tea, cereals, toast/bagel, jam and fruit in season). The cupboards and fridge will be available for you to stow your own vittles to prepare your own meals if you choose to dine at home.Did I mention we are cat and dog lovers? You are likely to meet Anna and Jonas? sweet dog, Sadie and possibly one or more of the other dogs if we are in town. If you have dogs or cats we should discuss it beforehand but under most circumstances they will be welcomed graciously into our home.Once settled into your space you are ready to head out to discover what awaits you during your visit. The Green River Gorge and Green River offers some of the finest white water paddling in the East and plenty of room to tube if you?re a novice, perhaps towing a water melon to be enjoyed on the banks of the Pristine River and gorge wilderness setting. You can arrange water activities with the Green River Outfitters just 20 minutes down the road. If you want to take your own adventure then take your kayaks or tubes to the easy trail access just a short distance from our home. Maybe arrange a pickup down river with Anna and Jonas for a small fee. Did I mention a hike to Bradely Creek Falls trail ,a moderate hike to one of the most beautiful falls in the area, or go a little further to some of the most extroirdinary waterfalls in the area at Dupont State park. Jonas would love to point out the areas finest biking trails. If water, hiking or biking are not your thing then head over to the lovely town of Hendersonville with its serpentine main street with sidewalk cafes, shops, antique shops, and much more, not to mention all the friendly folks you will run into. If not Hendersonville then check out Historic Flat Rock, home of the NC State Theater with a full summer of live stage theater. Walk the grounds of the Carl Sandburg National Historical Monument Park and see how a writer and wife who had a passion for dairy goats made a sweet home in our area. Love food? Just wonder over to the Flat Rock Bakery for fine wood fired oven Pizza and other delights. Oh there is plenty to do right here but for those of you who want more, Asheville is just 30 minutes down the road, where you can enjoy one of the most unique towns in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. I can?t even start to describe to you all the things you will discover and enjoy their. So much to share, hey that?s what those cool morning coffee and tea sipping moments out on the patio are all about as you start your day or perhaps sitting around the fire pit sharing your days stories, star gazing or whatever you desire. That is what we are here for, to co-create what pleases you in your journey. Not feeling sociable? That?s fine as well, there is high speed wireless internet and a TV with DVD player if you just want to chill in front of a movie or visit with your friends and family online. Perhaps just lounge in the hammock?Whatever!We don?t lock our doors and the light is always on. As they say here in the mountains, ?youins come on by, we ain?t fer up the holler?.
